Russian and Belarusian tennis players have received access and can play at Wimbledon. However, there are some conditions regarding the status of athletes.
The All-England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club published the corresponding decision on its official website.
Russian and Belarusian tennis players can take part in the Wimbledon tournament in 2023, but only in a neutral status.
In addition to this requirement, the organizers of the tournament put forward a condition for tennis players from Russia and Belarus to show support for the CBO in Ukraine.
Athletes who receive government funding will be denied entry to the tournament.
The same applies to sponsorship of companies that are under the state control or control of the Russian authorities.
At present, we intend to accept applications from Russian and Belarusian players, provided that they act as neutral athletes and comply with the relevant conditions, – Rossiya Segodnya quotes a statement from the club administration.
Subject to these conditions, Russian and Belarusian athletes will be admitted to all tournaments of the Association of Tennis Professionals and the Women’s Tennis Association.
