Brest customs officers prevented the illegal import of 500 bullets into the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union.
A 35-year-old citizen of Belarus tried to smuggle them.
This was announced on August 2 by the press service of the State Customs Committee of Belarus.
A 35-year-old Belarusian driver of a Mercedes truck en route from Poland to Russia entered the territory of the EAEU through the Kozlovichi checkpoint.
He did not submit a passenger customs declaration, thereby declaring that there were no goods subject to mandatory written declaration.
During the customs control, the truck was sent for scanning using the inspection complex.
Analysis of the scan and subsequent inspection showed that there were five plastic containers with 500 bullets in the technological and household boxes of the car.
The examination showed that such bullets are used for the manufacture (equipment) of cartridges for hand-held rifled firearms of 308 caliber.
The bullets were removed. Brest customs has started an administrative process under part 2 of Article 15.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (moving across the customs border of the EAEU goods subject to customs declaration with concealment from customs control), which provides for a fine of up to 30 BV with possible confiscation of the hidden goods.
