Supermodel Naomi Campbell and designers Sarah Burton and Giorgio Armani were honored at the British Fashion Awards held at the Royal Albert Hall in London, CNN writes. Campbell was honored with the “Fashion Icon” award, while Burton, famous for designing Kate Middleton’s dress for her wedding to Prince William, received the “Innovator” award.
The legendary Armani was honored by the British Fashion Council with a lifetime achievement award, reports BGNES.
Freezing temperatures in London didn’t stop the star guests from showing off some daring decisions while walking the red carpet.
The presenter of the ceremony, Tracey Ellie Ross, opted for a white free-falling dress created by Richard Quinn.
Quinn was nominated in the Best British Womenswear Designer category. However, he was preferred for the award by Daniel Lee of Bottega Veneta. Lee triumphed in four main categories, including designer of the year, beating out contenders from the likes of Miuccia Prada and Jonathan Anderson.
Daniel Lee’s work for Bottega Veneta helped the Italian fashion house win the label of the year award.
The award for British menswear designer was awarded to Kim Jones, whose work for Dior won fans such as David Beckham and Robert Pattinson.
The sister of the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson, surprised guests by announcing singer Rihanna’s Fenty fashion house as the winner of the Urban Luxury Award.
Adut Akech, who has repeatedly cited Fashion Icon Award winner Naomi Campbell as her inspiration, was named Model of the Year.
