The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Lithuania calls the decision to close two of the six existing checkpoints on the border with the Republic of Belarus a preventive measure.
Commenting on this measure, local officials say that a decision can be made in the near future, following the example of neighbors.
In the near future, the Lithuanian authorities will decide to close two border checkpoints adjacent to the Republic of Belarus.
If today in Poland there is practically one point, then we have six. One of the preventive measures will be the reduction from six border crossings to four, – the MIA Rossiya Segodnya quotes the statement of the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Lithuania Arnoldas Abramavichyus with reference to LRT radio.
It also became known that in his early statements, President Gitanas Nauseda admitted the possibility of closing the borders with the Republic of Belarus.
As a reason, the Lithuanian leader named the fighters of the Wagner PMC, who, after the well-known events, are stationed in Belarus.
The decision can be made in agreement with the authorities of Poland and Latvia, and all this is a matter of time.
Recall that the threat in the Wagner fighters was first considered by Polish Prime Minister Morawiecki. He stated that representatives of the structure could enter Poland as illegal migrants.
