Recently it became known about the death of a Russian officer on the territory of Ukraine, where a special military operation has been going on for almost a year and a half.
The death of the commander of the Leningrad Regiment, Colonel Yevgeny Vashunin, is reported.
In particular, MIA Rossiya Segodnya informs about this with reference to the head of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg, Alexander Belsky.
He described the deceased soldier as “a talented military leader and a worthy citizen.”
Colonel Yevgeny Alexandrovich Vashunin devoted himself to the devoted service of our Motherland, the parliamentarian noted.
According to him, the officer died on July 14, when he decided to help the Storm detachment, which was surrounded by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Vashunin advanced along with a support group, but their movement was noticed by the enemy.
A fight ensued. The colonel was cut off from other soldiers, he was seriously injured, but continued to fight until the last minute.
It is also reported that the commander of the “Leningrad Regiment” for courage and heroism was posthumously presented to the title of Hero of the Russian Federation.
