1. Sugar and sweeteners
Doctors and other specialists consider sugar to be one of the main “enemies” of mankind. Humans consume it in huge quantities because it is added to most industrially prepared foods. Sugar and popular sweeteners such as corn or maple syrup contain more than half the fructose.
Many studies have confirmed that fructose promotes inflammation in the cellular structures that make up the endothelium. Fructose also blocks the work of acids that inhibit inflammatory processes. There is especially a lot of fructose in breakfast cereals, milk chocolate, sweet lemonades and pastries.
It should be noted that the presence of fructose in fruits and berries does not give such an effect. On the contrary, it is beneficial for the body. However, refined sugar and its artificial analogues in large quantities have a destructive effect on all body systems and organs.
2. Cereals with gluten
The opinions of specialists on the use of cereals with gluten differ sharply. While some believe that the gluten in cereal seeds causes an inflammatory process in the body in people who are more sensitive to this component, others deny this claim.
However, the majority agree that giving up rye, barley and wheat really eases the condition of patients with joint inflammation, digestive tract and dermatological diseases.
3. Ready meat products
Industrially processed meat is saturated with glycation end products – substances that provoke inflammatory processes in the colon. Therefore, processed meat products may contribute to the risk of malignant neoplasms in the intestine.
Products of this type include smoked meats, sausages, ham, bacon.
4. Vegetable oils
Many refined types of vegetable oils undergo industrial processing, which results in them losing their healthy balance of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which increases the risk of inflammation.
The oil is obtained by pressing crushed plant seeds or fruits by the cold pressing method, when the crushed raw material is pressed at a temperature of +60⁰ C (up to +90⁰ C), or by the hot pressing method, when the crushed raw material is pressed at a temperature of +100⁰ C and higher. It is recommended to use vegetable oils that are cold-pressed.
5. Trans fats
They are made using hydrogen added to unsaturated vegetable fats that make them different. They cause the slowing down of C-reactive protein, which facilitates the inflammatory process, and reduces the content of “good” cholesterol, which protects the heart and blood vessels. Food with such fats harms the heart and causes inflammation in the body.
Trans fats are found in french fries and other fast food restaurant products that are fried. They are also found in popcorn, pastries, margarine and other products.
6. Processed carbohydrates
One of the harmful factors of frequent use of alohol is the thinning of the intestinal walls, as a result of which toxins of bacterial origin enter the body. They enter the blood and are transported throughout the body, causing inflammation in many of its organs and systems.
If alcohol consumption is frequent, inflammatory processes become chronic, leading to exhaustion of the body’s protective functions and several chronic diseases.
