It became clear that this group of people lacks a small fragment of a protein that forms the hormone asprosin in a healthy person. Further study of the hormone’s action showed that the compound interacted with neurons in the hypothalamus.
According to the study, asprosin has a different effect on two types of nerve cells – AgRP neurons, which stimulate appetite, and POMC neurons, which suppress it. As a result, the hormone increases the feeling of hunger and makes the body consume more food.
In addition, scientists have found that people who have excess body mass, the level of asprosin in the blood is high. On this basis, they conclude that lowering the concentration of the hormone asprosin, which is responsible for the level of glucose in the blood, contributes to the weakening of the feeling of hunger and to the reduction of the amount of food consumed by a person.
The researchers report the good news that they have already developed an agent that completely neutralizes the action of the hormone and that they have already conducted the first clinical trials. /Zdrave.to
