Improve memory and endurance: scientists talked about the benefits of interval training

This type of activity has a positive effect on the health of the elderly.

As experts from Sweden noted in their work, high-intensity training reduces blood pressure in untrained retirees no worse than moderate exercise.

But a significant plus at the same time is that in terms of their duration they are half as long.

An experiment was carried out.

It was attended by 68 people who had never played sports on a regular basis before.

Half of the study participants did regular 40-minute moderate-intensity workouts, while the other half did just 20 minutes of exercise but did high-intensity interval training.

As a result, it turned out that the pressure decreased in two groups, but the second one improved its memory, and their muscles became stronger.

The scientists’ results were published in The Journals of Gerontology: Series A.
