From now on, Belarusian drivers can travel outside the republic without presenting a green card.
The innovation is provided for by the Decree No. 240 “On International Motor Insurance” signed by Alexander Lukashenko.
According to the press service of the President, the document is aimed at regulating relations for the insurance of vehicle owners traveling abroad in the context of Belarus’ withdrawal from the Green Card international insurance system.
It is this decree that cancels the requirement for Belarusian drivers to present a certificate confirming the existence of a Green Card insurance contract when traveling abroad.
The Belarusian Bureau for Transport Insurance has the following powers:
– participate on behalf of Minsk in international insurance systems (other than the Green Card);
– conclude agreements on cooperation in terms of compulsory insurance of civil liability of vehicle owners.
